Several Transfer Choices
1. Private Transfer / Taxi (Most Convenient)
-
Book ahead with a private car service to pick you up in the arrivals hall and take you directly to your cruise terminal in Southampton — no luggage hassles, no transfers.
-
Travel time: ~1.5–2 hours.
2. Coach (Budget & Straightforward)
-
National Express coaches run direct from Heathrow to Southampton coach station (~2–2½ hours).
-
From the coach station, take a local taxi or short ride to the cruise terminals.
3. Train (Scenic & Reliable)
-
Take a train or coach + train:
-
Option A: Elizabeth Line or Tube to London Waterloo, then a direct train to Southampton Central.
-
Option B: Coach from Heathrow to Reading followed by a train to Southampton.
-
-
From Southampton Central, a quick taxi gets you right to the terminal.
Tips
-
If arriving on embarkation day, plan to arrive early enough to allow ~2–3 hours for travel to the port, customs, luggage check, and boarding.
-
All options require at least one onward leg (taxi, coach, or train) to reach the cruise terminal because there is no direct air‑to‑ship transport.
If you have any questions before or during your trip, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. I’m here to make your experience smooth and enjoyable.
For your safety and peace of mind, I also recommend leaving my contact information, along with your travel itinerary, with a trusted family member or friend at home. This ensures that someone can reach you—or me—if needed while you’re away.

Norway is a country that values politeness, respect, and environmental responsibility, so being mindful of local customs will enhance your experience. Greetings are typically done with a firm handshake and direct eye contact, and using polite language, especially with service staff or in professional settings, is appreciated.
-
Personal space and quiet behavior are important; Norwegians generally respect privacy and keep noise levels low in public spaces and on public transport.
-
Shoes are often removed before entering homes, some traditional inns, and certain smaller restaurants—look for cues or follow your host.
-
Photography is generally welcome in public areas and scenic spots but always ask permission before photographing private property or individuals.
-
Tipping is appreciated but not obligatory; many services include gratuity in the price, and rounding up the bill is common in restaurants and taxis.
-
Norwegians place a high value on cleanliness and environmental care. Dispose of trash properly, recycle where possible, and carry out any litter if bins are not available.
-
When visiting natural sites, fjords, or hiking areas, follow marked trails, respect wildlife, and avoid disturbing plants or protected areas.
Being aware of these customs will help you navigate daily life and shore excursions in Norway comfortably and respectfully, while enjoying the stunning landscapes, charming towns, and local culture of the fjords.
