Participants will learn the science-backed benefits of aerobic exercise, strength training, stretching, yoga, balance work, and other accessible forms of movement. The session highlights how exercise reduces stress, sharpens cognition, boosts decision-making, and supports emotional resilience—key components of competent legal practice.

This course explores how trauma—both personal and vicarious—can affect an attorney’s performance, decision-making, competence, and ethical obligations. Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of how trauma impacts the brain and behavior, recognize indicators of trauma in themselves, and learn how to apply trauma-informed strategies that promote competence, professionalism, and well-being. The session introduces a six-step trauma-informed framework that individuals and organizations can use to strengthen resilience and client service. This presentation is relevant to all attorneys and legal professionals, with particular value for those practicing in areas that frequently involve exposure to traumatic events, including family law, criminal law, personal injury, immigration, civil rights, bankruptcy, trusts and estates, and related fields.

This CLE teaches attorneys how to read medical records strategically instead of passively. It shows how to identify the parts of a record that strengthen or weaken causation, damages, treatment necessity, and overall case value. Attendees will learn how to spot documentation gaps, recognize when records support or undermine the treating provider, evaluate whether care appears justified or vulnerable to attack, and use the record more effectively in claim evaluation, negotiation, deposition prep, and trial strategy. The focus is on turning ordinary chart notes into usable legal leverage.

The course connects current research on lawyer well-being with the California Rules of Professional Conduct, emphasizing that competence encompasses mental, emotional, and physical abilities, as well as the ABA Model Rule on Competence. Participants learn why attorneys are at higher risk for problematic alcohol use, how chronic stress drives unhealthy coping, and how impairment undermines client protection and public trust. Participants will learn how AI fits into modern legal practice, how to evaluate its reliability, and how to avoid common pitfalls such as overreliance, confidentiality breaches, and inaccurate outputs. The session emphasizes lawyer competence, supervision, and professional judgment when integrating AI tools into legal workflows.

Participants will explore strategies for hiring at the appropriate time, integrating new attorneys and staff, fostering engagement and productivity across generations, and addressing common obstacles that affect collaboration and firm sustainability. The program is designed for attorneys with leadership, supervisory, or management responsibilities who seek to strengthen their firms through effective people and practice management.
