Welcome to Denver, Colorado—your gateway to an unforgettable journey through four of the nation’s most stunning national parks. As guests arrive throughout the day, enjoy a relaxing start at the Grand Hyatt Denver. With no scheduled group activities, this is your time to acclimate, explore the city, or simply unwind before the adventure begins.

Welcome Reception

We will gather as a group and board a private van to a warm and welcoming reception hosted at the home of a local attorney. This will be a relaxed opportunity to meet fellow attendees, enjoy conversation in a comfortable setting, and begin building connections before the CLE sessions and travel adventure officially begin.

Mediation — What It Is, What It Isn’t, and What it Can Be

The prevalence of courts mandating Alternative Dispute Resolution in one form or another will lead some to take advantage of mediation as a means to resolve disputes outside of trial. This session will discuss the various uses of mediation, things that mediation cannot achieve, and benefits mediation can provide the parties.

The Defense Base Act — A Basic Primer

The U.S. Government has determined to reduce costs and payroll by hiring contractors. Liability traps exist that can catch the unwary. This session will cover the basics of the DBA, starting with its origins, addressing its applications, and identifying some of the pitfalls.

Your day concludes with a return to Denver and a free evening to soak in city life.

Wind through canyons, forests, and peaks on one of the most iconic rail journeys in the American West.

Your route crosses the historic Wolf Creek Pass, once a formidable challenge for early pioneers, and winds through the untamed landscapes of the Rio Grande National Forest. It’s a journey filled with stories, scenery, and a true sense of the American West.

All Aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway: Summit & Stone Tour

Depart for Manitou Springs and climb to 14,115 feet aboard the historic Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the highest of its kind in the world. As you ascend, marvel at the sweeping alpine views and keep an eye out for wildlife. Later, stand in awe at the stunning Garden of the Gods, where towering sandstone formations rise dramatically beneath the shadow of Pikes Peak.
