Join us from February 13 – 17, 2023 in the beautiful city of Honolulu, HI and you’ll earn 12 CLE hours toward your MCLE requirements. Here’s a breakdown of the schedule so you know what to expect from this once-in-a-lifetime Eduvacation℠ experience with us:

Day 1: CLE Discussions

First, you’ll check-in at the scenic resort located at 2490 Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu. Here, you can soak in the beauty of Waikiki Bay and grab some snacks and refreshments until the start of our world-class CLE programs which starts at 12:15 P.M.

During this first day, you’ll get to learn about Intellectual Property Law from featured speaker Bryant Keller, Esq. In his presentation, he’ll discuss how legal practitioners can help clients protect their intellectual properties through trademarks, copyrights, contracts, and patents. He’ll also give an introduction to Patent Law for those who are looking into specialty credits for their CLEs.

Before ending the day, Gregory Sato, Esq. will present on the Uniform Trade Secrets Act (USTA) and what it means in client management, business planning, and litigation.

Day 2: Polynesian Cultural Center

Explore the rich heritage of the Pacific Islands and learn more about Polynesian culture on your second day in Hawaii with an immersive experience at the Polynesian Cultural Center. This package includes:

  • A trip to six island villages which will showcase exhibits and demonstrations
  • Traditional canoe rides and a Pageant of the Long Canoes
  • A tram tour of Laie, a coastal area known for luau feasts

Day 3: CLE Discussions

Start your third day in The Aloha State early with an Introduction to Open-Source Software Licensing as discussed by Bryant Keller, Esq. During this presentation, you’ll obtain a deeper understanding of how your clients can avoid legal pitfalls brought upon by open-source licensing issues.

Then, you’ll get to earn one legal ethics hour with Neena Speer, Esq. with a focus on social media usage. During the session, you’ll also get to learn about client conversions and lead generation as well as ethical issues.

The legal education courses end at 12:30 P.M., leaving plenty of time for you to enjoy your Hawaiian vacation on Day 3! You’ll get to spend the rest of the day exploring the island, using the resort’s amenities, or trying some of our below suggestions:

Honolulu Zoo

Here, you can have fun sighting Hawaiian indigenous species with your spouse, kids, or even your colleagues just a few feet away from the resort. The Honolulu Zoo has more than a thousand animals on 42 acres of tropical land. Your family will surely love to spend the afternoon checking out the specially designed habitats for all of the zoo animals here.

International Market Place

If you’re in the mood for shopping and dining, head on over to the International Market Place in the heart of Waikiki. This market is home to Waikiki’s largest collection of restaurants and it’s not uncommon to find luaus and live music here.

Waikiki Aquarium

One of the oldest aquariums in the world, the Waikiki Aquarium is located next to a living coral reef right on the shoreline. With almost 500 species of marine plants and animals, you and your kids will wish you had more time to view them all!

Golf

If you’re a golf enthusiast, it would be a shame to miss out on a tropical course in lovely Hawaii. With over 40 public and private golf courses, there will always be a course for all skill levels here.

Surfing and Paddle Board Lessons

Day 4: Pearl Harbor and Honolulu City Tour

The fourth day of your Eduvacationâ„  will be spent at the iconic Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. The tour will take you through the exhibits, history, and tragedy that took place here in 1941. At the USS Arizona Memorial, experience the lasting memories of the fallen heroes of WWII.

The next stop for the day will be the Honolulu City Tour, where you can set foot inside the volcanic crater of Puowaina. Be ready with your phone or camera to take photos of the only royal palace in the United States when you visit ‘Iolani Palace.

Day 5: CLE Discussions

The final day of earning your mandatory continuing professional education will be spent with interesting discussions on music copyright law. Jim Jesse, Esq. will also touch on unique ethical issues using The Beatles as a case study. You can earn two ethics hours in this course.

Your Hawaii CLE requirements learning tour will end with a dinner and two complimentary drinks on the ocean with our Fireworks Dinner Cruise. You’ll get to avoid the crowds and marvel at the magnificent Waikiki fireworks display while dining from the water. You can then stroll along the beach or get drinks at one of the many bars around the shoreline.
